OVERVIEW l PHILOSOPHY l SCHEDULE Hope Child Development Center (CDC) is a program of Hope For New Haven, Inc. a faith-based non-profit. Hope CDC is licensed by the State of Connecticut to provide a full-day program which has the capacity to serve 66 infant, toddlers, preschool and school-aged children. Formerly, Hope Childcare Center, we began operations in the fall of 2002, conducting programming from Christ Presbyterian Church, located at 135 Whitney Avenue in New Haven, CT. The center relocated to 1 Long Wharf in the June 2006. The early childhood program operates in suite 126 while the company offices and school-age program are housed in suite 226. Hope CDC operates year-round, five days per week, opening at 7:30am and closing at 5:30pm. Designed as a community resource for all children, the center provides an educationally sound program in a safe and healthy Christian environment. The center's operation is principally funded through parent fees and to a lesser extent, contributions from individuals from the three member churches. Parents fees are billed on a monthly, bi-weekly or weekly basis, payable in advance. A child may be enrolled in any of a variety of program schedules, from a full-time, five-day-per-week plan to as little as a one or two half-days per week.
Hope CDC believe that each child is a precious gift from God with unique and special qualities. Our major goal is to help children discover their God-given qualities while sharing His love and forgiveness with them. This is done in an environment, that develops spiritual, social, physical, cognitive, emotional and educational growth through the incorporation of Christian values and the supplementation of ethics and morals taught at home. This will be facilitated in a safe and healthy environment through the cooperation of parents and staff. This philosophy regards parents as the primary educators of their children, as such parents’ participation is a valued component of this program.
We believe that children learn best in an interactive, "hands-on" environment where they can discover the world around them at their own level of development. Since children need to feel secure before they will begin to explore their environment, we will give them love and respect, and help them to learn how to interact with adults and peers. The activities we provide will give them many opportunities to develop their cognitive, social, emotional, physical and spiritual growth; to formulate and organize ideas and to become more flexible in problem solving. Given that new concepts, new skills and new understanding come to children through play, we incorporate play in every aspect of our educational program.
