All staff has been carefully chosen for their commitment to and experience working with children. In order to ensure the highest quality of care, staff need to be or be in the process of becoming highly qualified in order to secure and maintain employment at the CDC. Highly qualified means that, in addition to a minimum of one year experience in a childcare or school setting, teachers need to have a minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate; lead teachers need a minimum of an Associate Degree and preschool, school-age and head teachers need a minimum of a Bachelors Degree.

Staff is scheduled to maintain adult-to-child ratios equal to or lower than that which is mandated by the State of Connecticut. There will be no less than 2 staff members at the opening and close of the Center. Staff will directly supervise infant, toddler, and preschool children by sight and hearing at all times, even when the children are sleeping. No person other than a Director, head teacher, lead teacher or teacher assistant will supervise a group independently even for brief periods of time, except in an emergency. No person under 18 years of age will be left alone to supervise a group of children at any time including in an emergency.
